Lumi Counselling provides therapeutic, family-centred support for children, adolescents, and parents across the Geelong region. Opening in May 2026, Lumi is committed to working collaboratively with schools, NDIS providers, and family service organisations to deliver coordinated, strengths-based support for families.
With over 20 years’ experience working alongside young people and their families, Luke brings a deep understanding of how change happens best; when professionals work together. Lumi’s approach integrates counselling, behavioural insights, and practical skill-building through a child-first, trauma-informed lens. Each session is designed to empower families with practical tools and collaborative strategies that strengthen confidence, connection, and long-term wellbeing.
“Families thrive when the professionals around them share the same language of care,” says Mihail. “Lumi was built for that - a space where counsellors, educators, and allied health teams can work in partnership to create clarity and confidence for young people.”
About Lumi Counselling
Lumi Counselling provides therapeutic support for children, adolescents, and families across the Geelong region, with a focus on early intervention, wellbeing, and family functioning. The practice offers individual and family counselling, behaviour support, and parent coaching, tailored to the developmental needs and goals of each client.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience in education, community, and counselling settings, Lumi is committed to integrated, outcomes-focused service delivery. Our work emphasises continuity of care, transparent communication, and shared planning to ensure families receive consistent, coordinated support across their professional network.
Lumi’s role is to bridge insight and practice; supporting young people to build regulation and connection, while equipping caregivers and professionals with strategies that sustain progress beyond the counselling space.
We are currently taking waitlist requests for agencies and professionals before opening up to self-referrals.
Lumi Counselling will partner with:
Schools: for wellbeing referrals, student support, and transition planning
NDIS providers: supporting self-managed and plan-managed participants
Allied health professionals: collaborating across OT, speech, psych, and behavioural teams
Community organisations and churches: providing referral pathways and workshops
Family Services organisations: supporting care teams with a shared commitment to wraparound, strengths-based care

Lumi’s work is guided by evidence-based, relationship-driven frameworks, aligning with Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) and child and family service sector principles. Practice is grounded in strengths-based, collaborative models, family systems theory, and co-regulation approaches that promote emotional safety, empowerment, and sustainable outcomes. Lumi integrates progressive ABA principles within a child-first, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming context, ensuring each client is supported holistically -within their family, community, and care network.
