Please read carefully and confirm your consent before beginning counselling.
1. Nature of Counselling
Counselling provides support to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and challenges.
The process may involve discussing sensitive or difficult topics, which can sometimes bring up strong emotions.
Progress is different for each person and cannot be guaranteed.
2. Confidentiality
What you share in counselling is kept confidential.
Exceptions to confidentiality include:
Risk of harm to yourself or others.
Concerns about child abuse or neglect.
Legal requirements (e.g., court orders).
3. Your Rights as a Client
To be treated with respect and dignity.
To ask questions about your counselling and treatment.
To request a change of counsellor or withdraw consent at any time.
To access or request a summary of your records, in line with privacy laws.
4. Counsellor Responsibilities
To provide a safe, respectful, and professional service.
To maintain appropriate records securely.
To work within the ethical guidelines of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
