That’s why I’VE put together some Frequently Asked Questions to help you out!

GENERAL

  • I support children, teens, and families with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, emotional regulation, anger, social challenges, low self-esteem, family dynamics, and behavioural issues. If you're unsure if I can help, feel free to reach out.

  • While my primary focus is on children, adolescents, and families, I also work with young adults and parents depending on the need.

  • Sessions typically run for 50 minutes.

  • This varies depending on the individual and their goals. Some clients come for just a few sessions, while others engage longer term. We’ll work together to find what’s most helpful for you or your child.

  • I use a Rogerian eclectic approach, drawing from evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, narrative therapy, and play-based techniques, tailored to the needs of each client. I am also accredited in ABA/Progressive ABA, which is extremely benefical for working with young people with neuro diverse needs.

  • Yes. Your privacy is important to me. I only share information if legally required, or if there are serious concerns about safety. I’m always happy to discuss confidentiality in more detail.

AVAILABILITY & BOOKING

  • A waitlist is currently open. Please reach out to express your interest (while spots last)

  • Yes. You can join the waitlist by contacting me via the website or email. You’ll be notified when a space becomes available.

  • Once spaces are available, booking can be done directly through the website or by contacting me via email.

ABOUT LUKE

NDIS ACCESS

  • Yes. Lumi Counselling supports individuals and families who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS.

  • Yes. I am not yet a registered NDIS provider, so I can only work with clients who are plan- or self-managed.

  • Once we confirm your plan type, I’ll provide invoices that you or your plan manager can submit for reimbursement.

  • Yes. We provide clear invoices and am happy to answer questions to make the process simple.

FOR PARENTS

  • Not always, but I sometimes do. Especially with younger children, parent involvement is an important part of the process. I’ll work with you to decide what level of involvement is most helpful.

  • In some cases, yes. Depending on the age of the child and the therapeutic goals, your presence may be encouraged, particularly in early sessions.

  • Yes. I’ll communicate regularly with parents to ensure we’re working together to support your child’s/teen’s growth.

  • I work with children aged 5 and up, teens, and families. I also work with adults as part of a family-based approach.

FEES & PAYMENTS

  • Standard session fees are $170 per 50 minute individual session.
    Prices vary for couples and family sessions.
    Prices are reviewed each year.

  • I do not yet offer Medicare rebates or bulk billing at this time, but I do work with NDIS participants who are plan- or self-managed.

  • Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, and NDIS plan managers via invoice.
